Celebrating the 155th Juneteenth

On this 155th Juneteenth, the EACE Board would like to call on our members to make this day a national holiday for the present and future workforce by considering signing the petition on Change.org. While it took more than two and a half years for news of emancipation to reach Texas, we don’t have that time today. Until equity and access in the workplace affords all their rightful seat at the table as well as compensation, our work is not complete. In the spirit of our mission and commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workforce, we will take advantage of this opportunity to influence and enact change in order for black and under-represented professionals as well as students in our care to secure meaningful internships and full-time employment.

We hope all our members take the opportunity to participate in our Open Dialogue on Race which will be held Monday, June 22 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. We won’t solve systemic racism in two hours, but we also won't take two and a half years to start.

If you are not familiar with Juneteenth, you can educate yourself here to understand the history and how you can observe the day. Many states have passed legislation to observe the holiday but federal legislation has yet to pass. Take the opportunity to raise your awareness, voice, and actions.
